A kidolgozandó feladat címe: Kavicsok törésének numerikus szimulációja
A téma rövid leírása, a megoldandó legfontosabb feladatok felsorolása:

Breaking of stones is an important process for both the industry (mainly mining) and theory. (Domokos, Gábor, et al. "Universality of fragment shapes." Scientific reports 5 (2015): 9147.) The fragments generally display universal size distribution which can be obtained by simple successive segmentation models. The micrimechanical simulation of these processes is difficult. The aim of this thesis is to implement a mechanically correct micromechanical break model based on the proper implementation of an elastic cylinder with Tresca break criterion between the particles. The candidate has to develop the model into the molecular dynamics simulation code of LIGGGHTS. The aim is twofold: first recover the universal size statistics of the fragments and obtain information about the size evolution of the particles.

Besides learning the physical aspects of the break process the candidate will also have the opportunity to learn to work with large scale c++ production codes.
